  The fiber cores need to have connectors fitted before they can attach to other equipment. This is called Fiber Termination and it is done by using fiber pigtail which is a single and short optical fiber that has an optical connector pre-installed on one end. The other end is bare.

  The exposed end of the pigtail is stripped and fusion spliced to a single fiber of a multi-fiber trunk.
